Elgin Ice Hockey Club was formed in 1993 by a group of youngsters and their parents who were keen to see Ice Hockey developed in the Moray area and as the Moray Leisure Centre has only been opened in 1991, many of these youngsters had to develop their skating skills from scratch.

Elgin Ice Hockey Club has come a long way since the early days and although we are a small Club in terms of numbers, we have established ourselves as a competitive Club that can hold its own against many of the larger clubs in the league.

Over the years Elgin Ice Hockey Club has been extremely lucky to have the services of committed Coaches who give their time week in, week out for no monetary gain to ensure that our young players have the skills to be able to compete with enthusiasm and commitment in this fast and exciting sport.

In addition, links have been forged with teams and Coaches from the Czech Republic who have passed on their skills and expertise to our Coaches and young players. A number of the Club’s players have had the opportunity to train and play for a Czech team and have returned with some valuable skills that they in turn have since passed on to other members of the Club. There is also an annual Best of British Hockey School held in Elgin.

At present Elgin Ice Hockey Club have 3 teams competing in the S.I.H.L.(Scottish Ice Hockey Ltd.) League. They are, Elgin Ospreys (U12s), Elgin Sky Pirates (U14s) and Elgin Devil’s (U16s). In addition, there are the Elgin Scorpions (U10s) who play “friendly” games as well as taking part in cross ice tournaments and other Competitions.

There is also an SNL (Scottish National League) team, which has proved very popular with older players who are still keen to play competitive Ice Hockey.
